About Us

About Ladd Hill Neighborhood Association – Emergency Plan (LHNA-EP):  LHNA-EP provides emergency preparedness awareness, information and training as well as emergency action plans in the event of a disaster in the Ladd Hill/Parrett Mountain community it serves.

Vision:  LHNA-EP will make it a safer, less vulnerable community, better able to cope with hazards and disasters.

Mission:  Enable the Ladd Hill/Parrett Mountain community to operate as a stand-alone group for 72 hours to 2 weeks after a disaster, including triage, basic medial care, rescue, and temporary shelter for survivors.  This is achieved by coordinating and integrating all activities necessary to help prepare for, and respond to, mitigate, and recover from natural or man-made disasters.

LHNA-EP:  Is organized using NIMS (National Incident Management System), a systematic, pro-active approach for emergency management that is used nationwide by safety services with the goal of providing help to save lives, animals, and property from immediate impacts from a disaster.  It is run by volunteers throughout our community.

The Reality During a Disaster:  In the event of a major regional disaster in Oregon (e.g. earthquake), resources will be overwhelmed for several days, if not weeks or months.  Communication and power lines may be down, roads may be impassable, homes my sustain damage, and people and animals may be injured or worse.  The Ladd Hill/Parrett Mountain area will most likely not be getting help from the 911, fire, police, or other emergency service providers until the higher population area issues have been mitigated.  Telephone, cell towers, electricity, and other utilities may also be down for an extended period of time.  The LHNA-EP will provide an immediate course of action using the volunteers and the resources of our neighborhood until public services are able to reach our area.

Other localized emergencies such as wildfires, weather related disasters, or plane crashes my also occur.  LHNA-EP is flexible to expand and contract as needed for different event scenarios.

Each Homeowner’s Responsibility:  As part of the emergency plan, each household will need to be prepared with their own home emergency plan and supply kit to be self-sufficient for food, water, and medications.  Plan to cover your family, pets, and livestock for two weeks or longer, in the case of a large scale event.

About the Ladd Hill Neighborhood Association (LHNA):  The LHNA is a non-profit, 501c3 organization, who’s primary purpose is the livability and topics of help or interest to the residents of the LHNA neighborhood.
